Christopher Davison
Artist Christopher Davison’s ink-and-gouache compositions are Technicolor in hue and kaleidoscopic in effect. His figures, with their inscrutable faces and awkwardly positioned bodies, are purposefully primitive. Part-mythology, part-dreamscape, Davison’s self-invented world is one of severed heads, hybrid creatures, and densely patterned landscapes. With hints of Jean Dubuffet and Jean-Michel Basquiat, Davison’s works call to mind tribal art and obscure origin myths, at once narrative and symbolic. Website
