Chie Fueki was born in Yokohama, Japan and raised in Sao Paulo Brazil. She attended the Yale Norfolk School of Art in 1995, received her B.F.A. in painting from the Ringling School of Art and Design in 1996 and her M.F.A. in painting from Yale University in 1998. She has had solo exhibitions at Mary Boone Gallery, NY, in 2006 and 2011, and at Shoshana Wayne Gallery, CA, in 2005, 2008 and 2013. She has recently participated in exhibitions at Fredricks Freiser Gallery, NY; Geoffrey Young Gallery in Great Barrington, MA; Susan Inglett Gallery, NY; Mary Boone Gallery, NY; CTRL Gallery in Houston, TX; Jeff Bailey Gallery, NY and “Greater New York” at PS1 Contemporary Art Center in Long Island City, NY. Chie’s work has been featured and reviewed in a number of publications including the New York Times, Bomb Magazine, The New Yorker, Art Asia Pacific, The New York Sun, Art in America, Art News, The Village Voice and Time Out New York.
