Jennie C. Jones

Jennie C. Jones creates audio collages, paintings, sculptures, and works on paper that explore the formal and conceptual junctures between modernist abstraction and black avant-garde music, particularly jazz. Jones attended Rutgers University, Mason Gross School of the Arts where she received her Masters of Fine Art degree in 1996. Prior to that she attended The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, receiving a Bachelors of Fine Art, with Fellowship, in 1991. She is the recipient of a 2013 Joan Mitchell Award and she attended the Rauschenberg Foundation Residency in Captiva, Florida in the Spring of 2014. Her solo exhibition, Higher Resonance, was presented at The Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, in Washington DC in 2013. Upcoming projects include a solo project at the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston, opening in December 2015. Jennie C.
